Routine!

Holidays are lovely! We look forward to the breaks!

And we sure break the routine!

In my daily routine, I have set my agenda with much thought! 5am wake up, exercise, personal devotion, prayer time with my wife, leave for work, work commitments, return home after work, family time, family dinner and rest, just to keep it simple.

But as we go away on holidays, the routine stops and the most important things that we have committed to also stop. Most important of this are the personal devotion times. This is what happens to me. Whats most annoying about myself is that once I am back from my holidays, I have forgotten my routine and I am beginning to think of what I should be doing to set a routine to my life until it dawns upon me after many days that in fact, I was following a disciplined plan until I left it aside to enjoy my holidays!

We cannot manage time; can manage only ourselves to be the good stewards. I am reminded of a teacher who helped me understand the meaning of disciplining myself. He used to always say this:

“Always remember to take your Vitamins: Take your Vitamin A for ACTION, Vitamin B for Belief, Vitamin C for Confidence, Vitamin D for Discipline and Vitamin E for Enthusiasm!!” – Hani Naguib

The more I evaluate myself, the more I realize that I have a learning issue. I know that Learning begins with identifying the areas I need to grow in by examining my strengths and weaknesses. I see that Leaning relies on resources, people, and growth opportunities and I see that Learning is challenged with consistency. I need to develop this to be able to stay focused. I cannot allow myself to get distracted, I know that I have a purpose in life and this purpose has to be fulfilled. But I fall by the wayside until I remember to pick up the pieces and get back on track.
