There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.
- We have lost our spirituality and reversed our values.
- We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it ‘tradition’.
- We have neglected our next generation and call them ‘generation gap’
- We have neglected to discipline our children and called it ‘building self-confidence’.
We are lost, we ridicule, we neglect.
One thing I ask from the Lord said King David in Psalms 27:4, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
Lord, we have failed thee, Speak to our hearts we pray.
There a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot.
- As a nation, we have killed our unborn and called it ‘choice’.
- Annually, 400,000 Sri Lankan women become pregnant, of whom 15, 000 resort to illegal abortions.
- About 10 pregnant women die each year and more pregnant mothers lean towards committing suicide.
- About 50 pregnant mothers committed suicide last year.
- 3 Children committed suicide after the recent ordinary level exams.
We are ignorant, we are aware, we don’t care.
God’s plan for every life on this earth is well planned. Jeremiah 1:5 reminds us, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Lord, we have failed thee, Speak to our hearts we pray.
There is a time to tear down and a time to build
- We have abused power and called it ‘politics’.
- We have stolen public funds and called it ‘essential expenses’.
- We speak negatively about our government and call them ‘ineffective’.
- We are critical about garbage collection and disposal and call it ‘inefficient’.
We curse, we ridicule, we post negative messages, we complain, we gossip, we just hate our government and system.
1 Timothy 2:2 urges us to ‘pray for our President and and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. We are reminded that This is good, and pleases God our Savior’.
Lord, we have failed thee, Speak to our hearts we pray.
There is a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
- We have endorsed perversion and called it ‘alternative lifestyles’.
- We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it ‘freedom of expression’.
- We have exploited the poor and call it our ‘rights’ and ‘benefits’.
- We endorse, we look the other way, we enjoy, we support.
Ephesians 5:5 cannot be clearer. No immoral, impure or greedy person has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God
Lord, we have failed thee, Speak to our hearts we pray.
I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
- We condemn the Sunday sermon of the pastor but we do not pray for the spirit to work through him.
- We appoint leaders based on worldly standards and do not understand the role of an ‘Elder’.
- We allocate one day in the year to recognize a loved one and call it ‘Valentines day’.
- We set aside one day in the year to make mothers special and call it ‘mother’s day’.
- We set aside one day in the year to remind another member in the family that it is ‘fathers day’.
- We spend lavishly and dance through the night and call it ‘New Year Celebrations’.
We agree, we condemn, we appoint, we set aside, we spend.
Galatians 1:10, ‘Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ’.
Lord, we have failed thee, Speak to our hearts we pray.
Search us, Oh GOD, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free so that we can honor you. Let our concern be His last command – Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
Amen!
