Ownership

17 You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” 18 But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

I read from Deuteronomy 8 and was really made aware that God surely is the ruler of all things. Psalm 50 is God speaking to us and telling us how he is in control.

We act out lives daily as if God owes us so much. Our daily walk is as if we are so great, that all we do and say is because of who WE are, better said, as if I am in control and that I am able to do everything on my own accord.

HSBC has changed the look of their internet banking site and as I logged into my account, a few days back, something that struck me at first glance was ‘Dil, this is how much YOU are worth’! My whole outlook for that moment shifted, I was all myself, how much I needed to do more to increase the figure in my account if I wanted to feel comfortable enough, what more did I have to do to feel ‘safe’! The very next moment, I was reminded of Job 41, 11 – Everything under heaven belongs to me.

April and December are 2 months I look forward to, its ‘bonus’ month! Its always nice to have a little extra money! I was waiting in hope for the text message from the bank to say that the bonus was deposited but I also know that for good and valid reasons, I will not be entitled to my bonus. I have exceeded my leave entitlement! Isn’t it common that when we do not have enough, we go to God and say HELP!

I am also beginning to learn that I cannot forget the loving nature of my God, He owns everything and all I have is what He gives me, am I not able to live thankfully for everything I have than expect more? Am I able to Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High’, for what He has already given me?

Lord I pray that each day I will be reminded and renewed that all I have comes from you and what my family and I do with my spending must be to honor you. Our spending has to be to honor you.
