JULY

As I pondered over the month gone by, my mind was also racing, my mind was also aware of significance. I began to uncover dates and times, I examined, I meditated, and I was able to identify with the month of July, I could understand ‘completion’. I could understand ‘perfection’. I could also understand ‘fulfillment’.

Roshan, abruptly departed from this earthly realm at the beginning of July, leaving behind a void that can never be filled. The shockwaves of his tragic loss vibrate through my soul, shattering the tranquility.

A sudden loss is never expected! We sometimes must pinch ourselves to figure out if this is true, I keep asking myself if I am really experiencing this! As I went through these moments, I suddenly began to face the memory of Sheruni, my sister. We would have longed to celebrate her 50th birthday and shower her with love and jubilation on this very month of July this year! Well, destiny had its plans, she went to be with her maker 45 years ago and Sheruni’s milestone remains forever suspended in my heart.

Throughout the month, a series of heaven-sent events unfolded, filling me with immense joy and gratitude. However, amidst this cascade of positivity, I couldn’t escape the profound remembrance of another setback. It has been a wearying journey of thirty-five relentless years since my dear mother departed from this realm, yet her memory remains deep within me. Amidst life’s trials and tribulations, her laughter, her love, and her unwavering guidance continues to vibrate within me, a constant reminder that even in the face of unimaginable loss, the enduring power of love triumphs above all.

I pondered at all that happened in the month of July and had this prompting that there was something meaningful to understand. July is an awesome month, the 7th month according to the Georgian calendar. In the Bible, the number seven holds great significance and symbolic meaning. It is a number that frequently appears throughout the Scriptures, representing completion, perfection, and divine fulfillment. This is an interesting connection between the number seven and the seventh month of the year!

There was clearly completeness, perfection, and divine fulfilment in the lives of Mom, Sheruni and Roshan and I was encouraged even more. Of course, not every instance of the number 7 in the Bible carries a deeper significance. Sometimes, a seven is just a seven, and I for one must be cautious about attaching symbolic meanings to any text. As for me, as I dwell through these times and go through these days, it seems that God is communicating the idea of divine completeness, perfection, and wholeness by means of the number 7.

just as the heavens are higher than the Earth, so are the Lord’s ways higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts

Isaiah 55:9

In Scripture, perfection belongs to God alone. Jesus assumes that the “heavenly Father is perfect” (Matt 5: 48). Paul speaks of God’s will as perfect (Rom 12: 2). This view is solidly based in a wide range of Old Testament passages, Moses’ statement that the Lord’s “works are perfect” (Deut 32:4), that God’s “way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless” (2 Sam 22:31Psalm 18:30). God “is perfect in knowledge” (Job 37:16). God’s “law is perfect, reviving the soul” (Psalm 19:7). In the New Testament James speaks similarly of “the perfect law that gives freedom” (1:25).

We serve a perfect God; His ways are perfect. His plan is perfect. His will for each of us is perfect!
