FEAR

I have spent some very interesting time discovering more about this word, more interesting because this is a hot topic at any given time, more specifically in this C-Crisis! I have been able to appreciate Fear from two points of view – Modern & Old Fashioned and I have been so intrigued!

According to Psychology Today, fear is a vital response to physical and emotional danger that has been pivotal throughout evolution. If people didn’t feel fear, they wouldn’t be able to protect themselves from legitimate threats—which often had life-or-death consequences in the ancestral world.

Most often we fear what people will do to us. Yes, there are pandemics or natural disasters and many other circumstances, yet, the fear of what others will do or say to us does take a primary place in our lives.

Fear of man will prove to be a snare….

Proverbs 29:25 NIV

Last Sunday, I discovered that ‘Blessed are those who Fear…’. Unreal, when I know someone is trying to make things difficult, when many thrive at confusing us, Fear surrounds us and yet to be assured that we can be blessed?

September 4, 2015 - KJV - Bible verse of the day - Psalm 128:1 ...

The more I dwell on this, the more assurance I receive that there is someone in a higher relm who wants to bless us all and, what it really requires is to Fear the Lord.

The obvious question to me is how can Fear and happiness coexist? I had to understand what it meant to Fear the Lord and I did not need to look far!

To Fear the Lord requires that we walk in obedience to Him, to love Him, to serve Him with all our heart and with all our soul, and to observe His commands and decrees!

Deuteronomy 10:12‭-‬13 NIV

I have a choice and I chose to Fear God, not the type of Fear that alerts me to the presence of danger or the threat of harm. It’s the Fear that requires confession and obedience.

Our pride prevents us from acknowledging our weaknesses! Our Fears prevents us! However i must boast about my weaknesses so that I can seek the help of my God to help me overcome.

Obedience requires that I do what is right in God’s eyes. Who knows my thoughts except my own spirit within me? I know how to chose between right and wrong. However, to understand and know the thoughts of God, I must know Him personally.

  1. Naturally as we grow older, more fears are adopted into our lives. Fear of not getting enough, fear of growing old, fear of death, etc. Ironically, there is even a fear of acquiring a fear. I believe the opposite of fear is faith, faith in God’s faithfulness and His unshakable promises. It’s a process of unlearning our irrational fears until the only fear left is the fear of God. I totally agree what you said, obedience and intimacy with God is the key to grow our spiritual man and conquer the fears. Fear not, Al-tirah! God bless you Dil and your loved ones!

  3. Fear to God is number 1 especially this pandemic to avoid commiting sin from the trial we are having right now. If we fear God we are less to commit sin.
